The Sydney Writers' Festival

A writer's festival may not seem to be the most exciting thing for those seeking entertainment in Sydney.  However, for aspiring writers, this venue, put on by about 200 local volunteers, is an ideal event for those seeking artistic inspiration and those who just wish to see the "fresh" local-- and international-- literary talent.

"We will be both a 'Harbour of the known' and a 'Bridge to the unknown' – featuring both established writers and those of high quality making their debut. We will bring together authors of the very best contemporary fiction and writers of cutting edge nonfiction, including some of the world's leading public intellectuals, scientists and journalists," said Chip Rolley, the event's Artistic director for 2010.

The festival is made up of a combination of paid and free events.  Tickets for paid events can be purchased as soon as the event is announced.  Free events are presented at the Pier, which has very limited space.  The limited attenance will be available on a first come first serve basis.
